Located within a few minutes walk from Central Station, on Sydney’s 57 Foveaux Street is 57 Hotel. We choose to stay in this hotel for our recent getaway to Sydney, because of its proximity to the central station and the amount of bars and cafes in the area.
The design of the hotel is based on New York’s famous Studio 54 nightclub which was prominent in the 1970s. Thankfully they did not go overboard with this theme, the lobby and the communal space did feel warm and inviting.
We booked a “mini disco double” room, which was clearly stated on the website, was going to be small. Upon our entry we were a bit disappointed that the disco ball hanging of the ceiling was missing, what is a disco room without one of these??? Indeed as the website suggested the room is small, and personally I was happy that we had such a busy program that we wouldn’t spend too much time in this room. The room has nice touches such as an in-room iPad which can be used to look up attractions and restaurants, although I must admit we did not use it. The beds are comfortable and the shower is again small, but did have everything we need.
There is no coffee corner on your room. No forget those sachets of instant coffee; you can get much better coffee in their communal space. OK you have to leave the room to get yourself a coffee but if you do so you can make yourself a nice Nespresso coffee and have some pastries, since these are also complimentary. What else is included? What about the Urban Skincare Co products, and again they are generous with the amount they supply. Who cares about the 1 small water bottle you normally get for free staying in a hotel, we are talking here about unlimited supply, and who can not do with an extra bottle of water after visiting a few of the bars in the area.
57 hotel is a mid –range boutique hotel, the rooms are comfortable and clean and staff is putting in a lot of effort to ensure your stay is pleasant. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone and we would be happy to return on our next trip to Sydney.

Room prices starting at $157 for a “57 Single” which as the name suggests is suitable for 1 person, and go up to $339 for a “Dancing Queen Twin”, a room which comes with 2 queen beds and therefore is suitable for families. Their website offers often last-minute deals and check booking.com as well, we managed via booking.com to get a “Disco Double Room” for $170 per night while their website lists $189.
We stayed at hotel 57 at our own expense.
