Why is our car called Barbabright? Well every famous car has a name,think about KITTHerbieGeneral Lee or De Lorean to name a few. Our car is not famous, but hey we think he is pretty awesome, so he had to have a name. Barbabright: Famous in the early 70’s, he is blue and a scientist. Yes, we are showing our age and indeed we are both scientists, wait until we shout out “Clickety click, Barba-trick!” and we morph into a different shape….

Red dirt and big blue skies

That is what you will see when you visit Silverton, but there is more!

We love this little mining town, in fact the last time we did visit was less than five years ago, in October 2011.

Silverton is located 25 km North-West of Broken Hill and used to have a thriving Silver mine. This little mining town had in 1890, during the peak of mining business, a population of 3000, nowadays this town is often called a ghost town with a population around 50.

Kinderdijk

When you mention the Netherlands usually a few things come to mind; wooden shoes, windmills, tulips, bicycles and depending on the person other things such as red light district and soft drugs. We are, as you probably know, both born in The Netherlands and have lived there the majority of our lives, but visiting windmills or a tulip farm would be something you only do with visitors from oversees. This time we were visiting from oversees ourselves, so we got into our rental car, on our way to see some windmills.

Why do we travel?

2015 Has been a year without much travelling for us, but that is about to change. At this moment we are “back home” to spend the holiday season with the family and friends, we wonder what is the reason why we travel? Travel can be done in many different forms, it can be backpacking for a year or a couple of years, luxurious trips on cruise ships and fully organised itineraries through one or more countries at a time, a road trip or camping trip in your own country or a city trip. Below is a list of seven reasons why we like to travel.
