It’s been a while

I know I have been pretty slack in keeping this blog up to date and I cannot promise that I will be much better from now on but at least I will give it a go.

A lot has happened since 2 November 2016, and we have been traveling but still I didn’t post anything on this website. I didn’t want to give up on this blog but I simply couldn’t find the energy to write something. Guess what I try to say that by the end of 2016 I was emotionally run down and my energy levels where none existing. I have made some changes in my life and we as a couple have made some together.

I will not run in too many details here, but I will inform you what we have changed.

Travel budget

How can we afford all this travelling? Are you on another holiday, again?

This are two questions/comments we do often hear. Personally we would love to travel more, but hey we both hold a full-time job and getting leave is not always easy and we also need to create enough funds to afford our travels.

There are heaps of blog posts on how to safe money for travel via small things such as making your own lunch and not having coffee’s anymore. There are also travellers who swear by having credit cards which rake up lots of points to enjoy free flights or upgrades. These things might work for some, but not for us. We are both in our 40’s and want to live our life every single day and not just when we are on holidays! Although we admit, we do make our own lunches, but this is more our Dutch background.

How can we travel this much?

We try to have at least two oversees holidays a year and manage to travel in Australia as well, which seems to be a lot more than our fiends and workmates. We still think it can be more, but that’s a different topic. To give you an idea how much we travel, have a look at the list below, it lists all our travel in 2015. A few of these shorter trips in Victoria were made with visiting family members. All these trips include multiple days on campgrounds or in holiday accommodation and hotels.
